The Canary Island Date Plam (Phoenix canariensis) is one of the largest trees that can be successfully transplanted.
Many mature specimens were transplanted onto the Embarcadero in San Francisco when the elevated freeway was demolished in the 1990s.
It is a truly beautiful tree with some interesting utility. (And an corresponding high cost.)
